What is the Team Player Project?

Would you like to be part of a team of top performers? Are keywords such as team spirit, cohesion, inclusion, and participation high on your family's agenda? Then you've come to the right place!

The Team Player project pairs young, strong fighters with a junior professional sports team. Being part of a team and involved in a sporting and social environment not only fills the kids with pride, it also promotes team spirit and cohesion. With these individual sports partnerships, we are not only supporting our young patients: the whole family feels the power and magic of team sports.

We bring your child together with a sports team on an exclusive basis. We tailor the collaboration between the team and you to your child's interests and abilities. From training sessions and stadium visits to running onto the field together at home games, fun “team challenges,” and much more: there are no limits to the variety of ideas in the Team Player project.

Where did the idea come from?

The idea of involving chronically ill children in sports teams originally came from a non-profit organization in the USA: ”Team IMPACT”It soon became clear that the partnerships not only brought the kids a lot of joy and strength, but also provided valuable experience for the athletes.

“Seit meiner Arbeit mit Team IMPACT an der Duke University ist es mir eine Herzensangelegenheit, Kids in gesundheitlich schwierigen Phasen den Weg in ein Sportteam zu ermöglichen. Sport verbindet und Sport zeigt Visionen auf. Teil davon sein zu können, ist ein unglaubliches Geschenk”, so die Projektmanagerin und ehemalige Leistungssportlerin Lara Kohlenbach.

Who is leading the project?

Das Projekt Teamplayer startet als Pilotprojekt in der Region München in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Netzwerk ActiveOncoKids (Standort München; Zentrum Bayern) und dem Klinikum rechts der Isar der TU München.
