Überblick

What is certification?

The certification is considered a milestone for the application to the German Cancer Aid during the 2nd NAOK funding period (03/2023 to 02/2026). It serves as quality assurance for sports therapy interventions in clinics with a pediatric oncology focus that cooperate with the GPOH. A prerequisite is that the clinic is part of the Netzwerks ActiveOncoKids and has designated at least one movement specialist who is qualified within the framework of the BOP-training (“Movement Therapy Interventions in Pediatric Oncology”) and certified by the GPOH as a contact person. In addition, active support from a physician is required. The sports therapy program is intended to complement physiotherapy and take place several times a week on the ward and/or in the outpatient clinic or day hospital. The certification aims to ensure that sports therapeutic interventions are guideline-compliant, low-risk, and sustainably integrated into everyday clinical practice.

What are the goals of certification?

  • Quality assurance and expansion of evidence-based care measures
  • Promotion of interprofessional collaboration
  • Visibility of established NAOK sites
  • Strengthening supportive care in the inpatient setting

Comprehensive information on medical professional development as part of the certification

As part of the NAOK certification concept, the participation of one physician per site in a NAOK training is a mandatory requirement.

The training takes place online, lasts approximately 45 minutes, and is offered on three different dates with identical content. Participation in one of the sessions is sufficient.

Objective of the training:
The event aims to deepen expert knowledge in sports therapy in pediatric oncology, to reflect on professional roles, and to promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
